SPORTS GROUND RE-DEVELOPMENT RECEIVES APPROVAL

Approval was given by CISWO on Friday 12th. November 2010 for the new changing rooms and upgrade of the sports grounds at Meden Vale. The Trustees and Directors of the Welfare have notified the Football Club that work is expected to start in November 2010. As the development takes shape we hope to have updates on its progress and in due course photos of the development will appear on the site.

The Football Club looks forward to being able to use the state of the art facilities from mid 2011 and thanks everyone for their hard work. Special thanks go to CISWO, FundSportUK,the Directors of Welbeck Miners’ Welfare and the Funders who have made it possible.

We wish the Miners Welfare all the very best with the redevopment of its facilities situated at the rear of the building and adjacent to Elkesley Road,Meden Vale.

Lightmain Construction of South Yorkshire have been awarded the contract and work on the site was due to start on 22nd. November 2010.

After a break in the weather workforce from the contractors were on site for 2 or 3 days during week-ending 18th. December 2010. They will return to the site when the weather further relents. In the meantime some of the infrastructure is being pre- assembled away from the site by the contractors.

  • Work on the build concluded in early June 2011 and work on the provision of 2 new pfootball itches on the former cricket area started in mid August 2011,. {itches were seeded in early October 2011 and it is hoped that the pitches will be ready for use in Spring 2012.
